Holiday Pet sitting with Justin

an overview of happening from 12/18/18-1/5/19

Maisy was the first dog to join me during the “holidays”…She is such a sweet girl! She was so open with me right from when we first met.  I love how she likes to lay in my lap and get pet and cuddled all the time, and she was super good with my dog Dillinger and cat Rac.

Here is a 360 video of Maisy meeting Dillinger and Rac for the first time in my apartment….

A day later Rossi joined the pack.  Dogs are social, and “pack animals” and everyone seemed to enjoy another friend along for our hikes…

A day later still, Walter joined our pack.

I max my overnight pack at 4 dogs and a cat…And here is a 360 video of the full holiday pack hanging out…

Big, small, cat, dog, we are all friends and respectful in my pack… a short cell phone video of the max pack in my apartment…

Maisy and Walter enjoyed wrestling with each other often, they spent almost 2 weeks together at my apartment. They played often and both slept cuddled up next to me in bed.

Morning nature walks!

Every day mid morning I take a hike with the dogs in Griffith Park to enjoy some “nature time”.  I go to quite a few different spots, but here I will highlight a few trails…

Mulhulland Highway Trail

This first trail I will highlight is a bit more of a neighborhood secret trail. Technically I think it is called Mulholland Highway…I usually call it the “reservoir hike”. It has some wider “fire road” style sections and some narrow single track trail sections through dense vegetation, with beautiful overlooks of the Hollywood Reservoir, aka Lake Hollywood. Here are some 360 videos with Maisy, Rossi, Walter, and Dillinger.  This is my quiet hike, with very few people on it, and I hope it stays that way, so please keep this trail a secret spot among friends only 🙂

Here is another video of Mulholland Highway trail at a nice clearing, this is an intersection of the fire road and the single track that connects to Lake Hollywood Park.

Here is a short 360 video showing the south side of Mulholland Hwy trail. This is the wider, fire road side…

another 360 video of Mullhulland Hwy trail South, with more Lake Hollywood views…

here is another short 360 video from another day on the north side of Mulhulland Hwy trail.

Ferndell

Ferndell, aka Fern Dell, is another spot in Griffith Park that I take the dogs to a lot. There is a short section where a running spring flows with koi, crawfish, and turtles, and there are a ton of trees offering shade at any time of day. Its a really nice spot to feel more connected to nature. The surrounding park trails are also quite nice with lots of pine trees and even some redwood! Here are a few 360 videos with Maisy and Walter and Dillinger…

Innsdale Trail

Here is another trail we take sometimes…this one is the Innsdale trail in Griffith Park.

Innsdale trail in Griffith Park , in front of the Hollywood sign

This trail is one of the closest legal trails you can take in front of the Hollywood sign. It is a good trail for the classic Hollywood sign picture  in the background and is very impressive in person to be that close to the front of the sign…..here is a short 360 video of that trail..

Bronson Caves, aka “bat caves”

Another spot that is fun to hike to is the Bronson Caves in Griffith Park, some people call them the bat caves or batman caves… Here are a couple 360 videos of them with Maisy, Walter, and Dillinger…

There is a group of Sycamore trees that is a regular evening hangout for a very large murder of crows…This is a poor video showing it, but it is something to hear all of them making noise and seeing them fly around. I recommend a dusk hike there sometime… Rossi, Walter, Maisy, and Dillinger cell phone video dusk walk at Bronson Caves…

Bronson Park

Bronson park is a small park that is very close to my apartment,  and often times if I am hiking to the Bronson Caves I will park outside the park so we can pass through it, I will take some better 360 video of it next time, but here is a little cell phone video I shot of Maisy, Walter, Rossi, and Dillinger passing through it one day…

Neighborhood walks

I walk the dogs in my neighborhood every morning and night for about 30 minutes. These are the “first walks” and “last walks” and otherwise just quick poop and pee walks. I live in Franklin Village and think that it is a nice neighborhood for dog walking. There are lots of places for the dogs to do their business, and its mellow and attractive. I will take better video next time, but here is just a little cell phone video showing Maisy, Walter, Rossi, and Dillinger walking through a quiet backstreet…
